[Hattiesburg, MS] – On behalf of Hattiesburg Public Schools, it is our honor to announce Megan Keyes as the Hattiesburg High School Tiger Head Softball Coach. Keyes was named head coach by the HPS Board of Trustees in June.

Coach Keyes brings more than 12 years of experience in both softball and basketball, including her dedication to athlete development, strong team culture, and competitive excellence, to HHS. Keyes joined HPS at the beginning of 2025 as interim head coach, proving her commitment to excellence by leading the team to the playoffs before ending their 2024-25 season in the first round.
“I'm incredibly honored to be named the head softball coach. Serving as interim this past season was a privilege, and I'm grateful for the trust and support from our players, staff, and administration. I'm proud of what we've started, and I'm excited to keep building a program that values hard work, growth, and team culture. The future is bright, and I can't wait to get back to work with this amazing group,” explains Coach Keyes.
Keyes began her softball journey as a collegiate athlete on scholarship at Jones Junior College, where she competed at a high level and gained a deep understanding of the game. Since then, she has devoted her career to coaching and mentoring student-athletes, helping them succeed both on and off the field.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree from Jackson State University, and an education specialist degree from William Carey University. Her academic background blends into her coaching philosophy—one that integrates athletic performance, academic accountability, and character development.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Coach Keyes is a proud mother of two children—a son and a daughter—who inspire her daily commitment to youth development and excellence.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Keyes on her new role and supporting her as she leads our student-athletes through an exciting spring season ahead
